Care Guide

Tattoo Aftercare

A tattoo is a healing wound for the first two weeks. How you care for it in that window decides how it will look for the rest of your life. Follow these steps carefully.

01

First 24 hours

Keep the protective wrap on for 2–4 hours after your session. Remove it, wash gently with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free antibacterial soap, and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not re-wrap.

02

Day 2 – Day 7

Wash the tattoo 2–3 times a day and apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free healing balm or unscented lotion. Avoid over-moisturizing — the skin should breathe. Do not scratch, pick or peel any flaking.

03

Day 7 – Day 14

The tattoo will flake and itch as it heals. Keep moisturizing lightly. Avoid sun exposure, swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs, and intense workouts that cause heavy sweating on the area.

04

Long-term care

Once fully healed (4–6 weeks), always protect your tattoo with SPF 30+ sunscreen when exposed to the sun. Keep your skin hydrated to preserve the ink and detail for life.

Do

  • Wash gently with clean hands and a mild soap.
  • Pat dry — never rub.
  • Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer.
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the area.
  • Sleep on clean sheets.

Don't

  • Don't soak the tattoo (no baths, pools, ocean, sauna).
  • Don't expose it to direct sunlight while healing.
  • Don't pick, scratch or peel scabs.
  • Don't apply petroleum-based ointments or fragranced products.
  • Don't shave the area until fully healed.
